Bursaries and Scholarships

At the heart of BGS remains a strong belief in access through ‘academic ability, not ability to pay’. With state funding no longer available, BGS now runs its own assisted places schemes. You can help support bright children at BGS through the Michael Booker Memorial Bursary Scheme.

 

The late Michael Booker, a greatly respected and inspirational teacher at BGS, dedicated his working life to the school’s students, choosing to direct his talents towards ability rather than privilege. Our philanthropic bursary scheme is named in his memory and has helped over 20 students at BGS since its foundation in 2003, a number of whom have already moved on to follow university courses. Your bursary gift will help towards one young person’s education at BGS and will be greatly appreciated. Everyone is encouraged to participate in the Scheme and larger gifts can be spread over time.

 

BGS also remains committed to celebrating and rewarding individual excellence and are delighted to offer scholarships which recognise the talents of our most able students, both all-round acadmic ability and in specific subject areas. Many of these awards have been funded through the generosity of our community and we are grateful to our friends who make these awards possible.
