A flying start to the season

02.02.2012 - OB represents New Zealand

The 2011-12 winter sports season is shaping up to be an exceptional one for former Bristol Grammar School student, Katharine Eustace (OB 1986-1993). Katharine, who now lives and works in New Zealand, combines her career as a physiotherapist with that of an elite athlete as a member of the New Zealand Skeleton team. Skeleton racing has been compared to sliding down a mountain on a tea tray and, with racers reaching speeds of up to 130kph, is certainly not for the faint hearted!
This season has seen her record some of her best results so far, including first place in the America’s Cup competition in Lake Placid in December, and a podium finish (top 6) in the most recent World Cup race in St Moritz. With her results showing a steady improvement as the season progresses, we wish Katharine all the best for the upcoming World Cup races in Canada and the return to Lake Placid for the World Championships at the end of the month.
