29.06.2012 - Cycling success at the BCSA Champs

On Sunday 24 June, John Whittle and Tom Scammell, both Year 10 students at Bristol Grammar School, represented BGS at the National Schools' Hard Track Cycling Championships in Portsmouth.

The Championship had three events: a two-kilometre pursuit, a match sprint competition and an eighteen-lap scratch race. Against tough competition, who had travelled from as far as Leeds to take part, both boys finished in the top ten and did the school proud. The highlight of the day for BGS was Tom winning four consecutive match sprints, including both the National and Southern finals. Thanks to his excellent form, he has also been selected to attend a GB Cycling Olympic Talent Youth Squad training camp at Manchester Velodrome.Well done John and Tom.
