Last weekend (14-16 September) saw Bristol Grammar School student Tom Scamell representing England South in the Track Cycling National Inter-Regional Finals at the National Velodrome, Newport.

Tom, who is in Year 11 at BGS, enjoyed some excellent results, against high quality national competition. On the first day of competition he qualified as top seed for the Match Sprints with a personal best of 11.57 seconds (just 0.25 off the national record), and progressed comfortably to the to the final where he took second place after a photo finish.

The following day saw Tom set another personal best, winning the 500m Time Trial title in a time of 35.09 seconds and he ended the event on a high as part of the England South Team that won the Match Sprint Team title on the final day of competition.

Well done Tom.
