Sports Day 2012

29.06.2012 - Which House triumphed in Newport?

We didn’t have glorious sunshine but at least we (mostly) avoided the rain for this year’s Sports Day at Newport Stadium on Wednesday 27 June. The cream of Bristol Grammar School’s athletic talent was on display as the six Houses battled it out to claim the title of overall School athletics champions.

There were some fantastic individual performances: Ada’ora (Diamond’s, Year 8) set a new School record in each of her three events (the 300m, high jump and shot put). There were also new School records for Jack (Edwards’s, Year 9) in the 800m, and Mark (Scott’s, Year 10) in the 400m.
Ada’ora’s excellent all-round performance saw her awarded the trophy for Junior Victrix Ludorum, with Jonny (Edwards’s, Year 9) receiving the Victor Ludorum. In the Senior competition, Victrix Ludorum was Rose (Scott’s, Year 10) and Victor Ludorum Mark (Scott’s, Year 10).
The overall House competition was hard-fought and incredibly close with just nine points difference between first and second place, showing the worth of every single competitor and every single point won. Congratulations to this year’s champions Catchpole’s House who just pipped Jakobek’s at the post, 1480 points to 1471.
