Student World Fair held at Bristol Grammar School
Student World Fair held at Bristol Grammar School
05.09.2012 - Overseas universities visit BGS
The biggest gathering of foreign universities in the UK is visiting Bristol Grammar School to reach more students with information about studying a degree abroad.
Up to 30 universities from all over the world will be at BGS to advise students in the region about the overseas option to higher education as part of The Student World Fair going on tour.
The Student World Fair is the only event of its kind dedicated to showcasing international universities to undergraduates and postgraduates in the UK.
The number of Student World Fair events is being trebled this year and the Roadshow is being organised for the first time to meet the demand for information about studying abroad.
Students, parents and teachers will get the chance to meet representatives from universities at BGS on Wednesday, October 3, from 4.30pm to 7pm.
Students will be able to find out about studying in Australia, Canada, China, Germany, Holland, Hong Kong, Italy, New Zealand, Spain, Switzerland and USA.
Jemma Davies, from The Student World, said: “We have seen an increase of up to 25 per cent in both the attendance of students and overseas universities since the first Student World Fair that was held in October last year.
“That represents a real demand among students for information about gaining a degree abroad and among overseas universities recognising the potential created by the rise in tuition fees and the limited undergraduate places here in the UK.
“The Roadshow will provide more opportunities for students in the Bristol area to meet representatives from overseas universities and make an informed decision about going abroad for their degree.”
A recent survey commissioned by The Student World revealed that around three-quarters of students would consider a university abroad despite not knowing enough about the option of studying a degree overseas.
