Learning Support
Every child is unique. By learning in lively, stimulating groups and with the support of dedicated and passionate teachers, we help each child to achieve their best, whatever their individual strengths or abilities.
There are currently more than sixty students with some type of learning difficulty in our School. Students with physical disabilities, specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia or other conditions are offered individual support from the Learning Support department, led by a Head of Learning Support and assisted by a specialist teacher. We also provide additional teaching for students for whom English is not their principal language.
In an academic environment that includes regular informal assessment, the Form Tutor and Head of Year will both take a lead in your child’s academic progress. They’ll work with others to provide additional classroom support for a child with educational needs, as well as creating new opportunities or greater challenges for children who are very able. They’ll give practical help to a child who is unexpectedly performing above or below their usual level. Sometimes the chance to shine in a House production or succeed in a new sport is just what’s needed to boost self-confidence and unlock a student’s academic potential.
