Results & Reports

Bristol Grammar School is proud of the excellent academic results achieved by its students. In 2011, nine students gained ten A*s or more and 53% of the year group achieved an A or A* in eight or more subjects. 68.6% of all GCSE passes were an A or A*, with 91.6% of all entries being awarded an A*, A or B, a reflection of the hard work and commitment of every single one of our students and their teachers.

This year, A*s were the most common grade achieved by BGS students across six subjects, History, Design Technology and Latin and the three sciences, Chemistry, Biology and Physics. In Maths, sat by all students in Year 11, 75% of all grades were an A* or A.

We also value the feedback we receive from external assessment and are always pleased when our high standard of achievement, excellent teaching and outstanding pastoral care are recognised though independent evaluation.

The Independent Inspectorate Report 2010 recognises the outstanding range of educational opportunities both within and outside the classroom. It made particular mention of  the outstanding quality of pastoral care, reflected in pupils who “seize chances to take responsibility for themselves”.
