Leadership & Responsibility

Learning to work as part of a team and understanding what it means to be a leader are important skills that will support our pupils for the rest of their lives.

Outdoor challenges, such as team-building camps, Duke of Edinburgh Awards and overseas expeditions are an important part of this opportunity. Through Prefecture and our House system, students discover first what it’s like to have rôle models and then to be rôle models. Community Service, the Charity Committee, Young Enterprise, involvement in team sports, music and drama are just a few of the ways in which  pupils at BGS discover their potential, underpinned by our broad programme of School and House activities.

We encourage every pupil to celebrate their strengths and address their weaknesses, by keeping and updating their record of all that they experience and achieve in their personal CV.

By providing opportunities for students to experience leadership and develop a sense of their personal responsibility, we aim to support them to become rounded young people with the courage and resilience to pursue their ideas, ambitions and dreams.
