Leadership & Responsibility

By consolidating your strengths, discovering new skills and finding new ways to work and relate with people, life in our Sixth Form helps each student evolve a sense of personal responsibility, an experience of leadership and team work that will be an invaluable skill in future life.

The organisation of our School is structured to give Sixth-form students a wide involvement in its operation. Our Prefects are important role models for younger pupils. Through our House system, it’s our Sixth formers that take the lead in organising a rich calendar of House events, from House Sport, Music and Singing to directing, writing or choreographing our popular House Plays.  Our programme of Peer Mentoring is well-supported and respected. It’s our Sixth-form students who, having received professional training in counselling, take on genuine responsibility for the well-being of younger pupils who need advice or support.

We’ll provide you with once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to discover all that you’re capable of, challenging you to take on a team outdoor adventure, perhaps trekking in Morocco or skiing with our Summit club.

You’ll be encouraged to put your achievements into perspective, each term building a CV and Leadership portfolio that reflects all that you’ve attained. It’s a way of building on your successes, demonstrating where you’ve shown leadership and responsibility, become involved in some aspect of community or charity work or stepped up to a challenge, not just academically but physically through involvement in sport, an expedition or though participation in drama and the performing arts, all important preparation for whatever you go on to do in the future.

"A lot more has been expected of me this year already, but I welcome the increase in my responsibilities. I have been treated as an adult, am more capable of doing things for myself and am being well prepared for life after school."
