The Big Events

In a year packed with activity, there’s still time for some unmissable events, many of which bring together and energize the whole School.

The School Play galvanizes all; cast, musicians, crew and creatives, anyone can be involved. In alternate years our Sixth formers take a production to the Edinburgh Festival, traditionally a sell out. Whether you participate or simply watch, ‘Strictly BGS’ has a cult following, with students and staff performing their cuban breaks and reverse turns after weeks of excellent coaching.

Once a year the Great Hall becomes a Moroccan medina, hosting money raising events for our School charity.  Our annual School Concert at St Georges celebrates our high standard of musicianship. On Charter Day, we all feel pride in our School. House Singing, where the performance is spirited and costumes wilder, is something we definitely do for the fun of it. We dine with former students, dignitaries and other external guests at the Career Dinners and cheer on our friends, whatever they achieve, on Sport’s Day. Every week sees visitors to our Sixth Form; historians, scientists, writers, television presenters, artists, sportsmen and women, many of whom are household names and all of whom enrich our ideas, our opportunities and our learning.
