University & Career Progression

As a BGS student you’ll have a dedicated, full-time careers service. From her base at the heart of the 6^th form centre, BGS careers advisor and Deputy Head of Sixth Form, Melanie Guy provides one-to-one support to every Sixth-form student to help plan the next steps.

 

You may be thinking of a gap year. Our Careers Office is packed with information and ideas and you’ll discover more at the Gap Fair.

 

Most BGS students choose to go to university and the majority are offered their first choice. We’ll work with you, overseeing your UCAS entry, to plot a path through the many thousands of courses on offer, providing advice with your personal statement and presentation, support which helps BGS students stand out from the crowd.

There’s a full programme of informal events, like the Higher Education and UCAS conference, an Oxbridge tea and small forums for careers in law, medicine and engineering.  You can find out more by talking direct to the many professionals and specialists invited into our School, some to support you with mock interviews, and to our former students who’ll be able to update you with the latest feedback.  There’s a world of opportunity.
