Care & Support

Feeling supported, being part of a family and a positive learning community brings out the very best in the girls and boys at our School.

Part of that support comes from the relationships formed with Year Heads, Form Tutors, academic staff and the experience of a team of staff with specific responsibility for ensuring we maintain our outstanding quality of pastoral care. Every student is also kept safely under the wing of a Head of House and his or her supporting House staff team.

Just as important is the careful system of support that students receive from a team of selected Sixth-formers, trained by a professional psychologist to deliver a mentoring role within the School. They provide a confidential and friendly advice service, visibly present in the School, and readily accessible through a drop-in centre, e-mail or secure post system. Our Peer Mentors take the time to get to know the students in their designated Year-group. They are often aware of developing issues, sometimes being able to pre-empt problems, an important layer in our closely knit network of support.

“Peer Mentoring has been one of the most rewarding parts of my Sixth-form life especially after helping one of the younger members of the School  with some friendship issues and then seeing him run around the site with his mates with a great big grin on his face.”

"We also offer a confidential counselling service for students who may wish to talk through any problems, challenges or difficulties they face. Counselling offers a private, secure space from which students can identify issues for discussion and strategies to move forward and promote emotional well-being. Staffed by an experienced freelance therapist, this service is available every Monday and Thursday afternoons and can be accessed in a variety of ways, all of which are comunicated to the students at various points throughout the year."
