Sport

From the early teamwork, ball, racket and stick skills that are developed amongst children as young as five in BGS Infants to the quality coaching and mentoring that enable our BGS Junior and Senior School students to compete with the best in their field, sport and the opportunity to participate in a wide range of physical activities is hugely valued and enjoyed at Bristol Grammar School, a School that continues to build on a great sporting tradition.

This is a School where students benefit from some of the best facilities for sport in the country, available to every child at every age. From the Badminton courts to the hockey fields, they set the scene for the extensive involvement we see in House sport and competition as well as supporting the ambitious aspirations of our many elite athletes and our highly successful sporting teams.

In a broad sporting curriculum and supported by a team of excellent coaching staff, all our students are encouraged to discover their talents, to develop their skills, to discover enjoyment in whatever their chosen level of participation and to achieve their best.

The School’s extensive co-curricular programme creates exceptional opportunities to develop both team and individual sporting interests, to test the water in our Infants School, to reach new heights on our climbing wall, or to race ahead on the track.

Fundamental in evolving a fair sense of play and encouraging all our students to behave in a tolerant manner, sport at Bristol Grammar School is celebrated in all its many forms and continues to be a driving force in taking our students to the top of their game.

"I really like the sport, I think most people do. I like it because there’s more variety. I learnt different things and I learnt more. The teaching is good; you start to master real skills which are what you need if you want to play well."
