Football

Head of football – Graham Fellows

Football is played alongside hockey by the boys in the Junior School during the Spring term. In the Senior School, it becomes an option for boys in the Sixth Form and is played on two afternoons throughout the winter terms. The School enters the Independent School’s FA Cup and matches are played in the Autumn term. The main season runs throughout the Spring term when the First and Second XI compete in the Mercian League, of which the School is a founder member. This involves fixtures with QEH and Clifton College, and matches further afield, including Marlborough College and Malvern College. BGS were runners-up in 2010. There are also regular Third XI and U16 fixtures. Additional friendly matches are also played in the Spring term. Students train at Failand on one of the three senior and four junior size grass pitches, as well as two astro turf pitches.
