Orienteering
Head of orienteering – Jo Foster
In the Autumn term, Orienteering is run as a co-curricular club as part of the Year 11 rotation of sports on a Thursday afternoon at Failand. The club is open to any pupil from the Junior School upwards with members of staff also participating. A number of students have orienteering as their physical recreation element of the Duke of Edinburgh award.
BGS is a member of the Avon Schools’ League which means that we compete against other local schools in eight events.
There is also an individual championship and a relay competition. Over the past ten years we have either won the league or been runners-up, so our track record is strong. The School events are held on Sundays, but local clubs such as Bristol Orienteering Klub (BOK) run training and Saturday events.
