This website is regularly updated with details of forthcoming events and other news of interest to Old Bristolians. So that the Society can communicate quickly and effectively with its members, members are asked to advise the Old Bristolians Office of any changes in their e-mail addresses.
The Old Bristolians’ Society (OBS) has existed for more than 100 years. Its main objectives are:
Around 1,700 former pupils and staff are members of OBS which is a separate entity from the School and run almost exclusively by volunteers. The President of OBS holds office for a year. The other Officers of OBS and its Committee members are chosen by election and normally stay in post for a longer period.
Members of OBS can participate in and benefit from
OBS contributes some 30% of its subscription income to the School through the Michael Booker Bursary Scheme, school prizes, scholarships, and travel awards. OBS also has a Discretionary Fund which allocates sums in the low hundreds of pounds to Old Bristolians in further education who wish to undertake a project with defined benefits for themselves and the community within which they plan to carry out their work.
Old Bristolians who are not already members of OBS are encouraged to become members and thereby put something back into the BGS community. An application form and a direct debit form are available for downloading from this website-please join today!
