Development - giving back, looking forward
Bristol Grammar School’s development programme aims to bring long term additional income to the School through charitable giving. This enables the wider BGS family to give something back so that the next generation of children can benefit from extra resources, facilities and bursaries which could not otherwise be afforded from fee income alone. All fee income goes directly towards the education of our pupils and we try to keep fees as reasonable as possible, so there is little to spare for additional projects. Support comes from parents, former parents, staff and Governors, Old Bristolians, charitable trusts and foundations. All are giving tax effectively to:
The Michael Booker Memorial Bursary Scheme: access for bright children through fees assistance
The Annual Fund: for smaller resources each year
The 475th Anniversary Campaign: the impressive new sports pavilion and exciting ‘Hub’ project
Legacies: investing for future generations by including BGS in their will
We value your involvement and in return we welcome OBs and friends back to BGS, and organise visits and reunions. We also work closely with the OBs’ Society to hold events and keep OBs in touch with each other, helping with career development and contacts. All OBs, former staff and friends receive the BGS ‘View’ newsletter three times a year. By supporting BGS, our donors make the School special by providing extra resources and experiences that are essential components of the school’s broad, challenging and inspirational education. Everyone is included and every gift is valued. Thank you!
