Following their success in the Bristol heat in June, the BGS team of Ellie Turner, Ravinder Singh Cheema and Sina Ataherian clinched victory in the regional final of the Ogden Trust Business Competition in September. All three students are studying either Economics or Business Studies at A level and the competition offered a great opportunity for them to apply their academic knowledge to solving a real business problem.
As winners of the regional heat, the team went on to the national final in London on Tuesday 3 December, with Jonathan Howie replacing Ravi who was unable to attend. With a first prize of five days in New York, the competition was fierce and although the BGS team failed to win a prize, they did reach the last eight from over 140 teams, a great achievement in itself.
