A great school - linking the magnificence of the past with the excitement of the future
It is 475 years since Bristol Grammar School was granted its Royal Charter. This important moment in our school’s history is a time to look ahead and plan for the next century with a series of bold initiatives. These capital schemes are part of a 10 year development strategy designed to transform the Tyndall’s Park site and complement our superb sports fields at Failand.
The new sports pavilion will dramatically improve sports provision. Work is due to start this summer 2007 and complete ready for the autumn season 2008.
At the centre of our School, the new ‘Hub’ building will replace the Sixth Form centre and library and will also contain a new lecture theatre, art school and a base for learning support. The scheme will have a significant impact upon all the other key teaching and learning areas and will affect every pupil.
The cost of these ambitious but essential projects will be significant and well beyond the resources of the School.
We are therefore embarking on a major capital campaign to raise a target of £3 million. During this 475th anniversary year we ask all our friends to help us achieve these far reaching developments. The proposals have already attracted substantial commitment from founding patrons and patrons amongst our Old Bristolian, parent and staff community, giving us a tremendous start.
So far we have exceeded the £1.8 million mark, thanks to the generosity of hundreds of donors who share our vision. Now we invite you to become a benefactor of the 475th campaign. Please read more about our plans and help as generously as you can. Full details are included in our campaign brochure; please email campaign@bgs.bristol.sch.uk for a copy.
