Physics is taken by all pupils from Years 9 to 11 and follows the general science course of Years 7 and 8, which acts as an introduction to all three sciences.
The department offers learning based on a wide range of resources; we are generously equipped with apparatus and computers. Whatever the resource used, however, the aim is to give our pupils a good grounding and understanding of the concepts of physics and its social implication. We teach largely using investigative and experimental techniques. Practicals vary from worksheet-based experiments to open-ended projects intended to increase creativity and curiosity about real problems and their solutions, and to develop pupils' confidence in the use of modem scientific equipment.
Staff teach at all levels in the School and, together with two technicians, all share the development of teaching resources in the subject.
