Stem Café: Trains, planes and bridges

Thursday 18 January, 3.50pm

Event date: Thursday 18 January, 3.50pm
Event location: Bristol Grammar School, J16

Have you ever wondered how large construction projects such as the design and building of bridges are developed and implemented? What about train projects such as HS2 and the Filton Bank project linking Bristol City Centre to Abbeywood? How can engineering impact on airports e.g. London Airport?

Muna Alkaabi and her colleagues from Taylor Woodrow and Vinci Construction will be revealing the complex nature of these types of projects and the particular importance of their work in the Bristol area.

We will also have the opportunity to find out about the use of 3D and 4D modelling, and 360 virtual technology in design development. There will also be some discussion of the other sectors involved in the construction project.

This Café will start with refreshments from 3.50-4.10 pm, followed by the talk 4.15 – 5.00pm. All BGS students and parents are welcome; parents should enter the School via Main Reception.
