Information for applicants
Children usually join BGS Infants and Juniors in the September of their Reception, Year 3 or Year 5, following assessments the preceding November or January. Please contact us on 0117 933 9885 if you are looking for a place in another year-group, applying for entry during the current academic year, or after our entrance assessments have taken place, to check the availability of places.
To complete your application you will also need to pay the £25 registration fee. You can send a cheque (payable to Bristol Grammar School) to The Admissions Office, Bristol Grammar School, University Road, Bristol BS8 1SR. Alternatively, you can pay via bank transfer, details are available from the Admissions Office. Please include your child’s name as a reference with your cheque or transfer. This registration fee is non-refundable. It covers testing, interviews and administration.

Bursaries in the Junior School
A limited number of Peloquin Awards (bursary assistance) are available for children applying to join Years 3, 4 and 5. These are means-tested and are awarded according to academic merit.
If you require bursary support, applications for the Peloquin Award MUST be received alongside this form at least one week in advance of the entrance tests. Peloquin forms are available from the Admissions Office or can be downloaded below.

We may, for example, ask for information about other schools to which you are applying as they may hold their entrance examinations on the same days as ours. In addition, we may contact other people with parental responsibility to check that they consent to your child joining the School. Information will be used to ensure that we have made all the reasonable adjustments for your child when they visit BGS or during any entrance examinations. We may share your information with credit reference agencies.
If your child is not offered a place, or you do not accept the offer of a place, we will only retain this information for as long as we need to. Unless there are exceptional circumstances, information will be kept for a year after the end of the admissions process.
