BGS Music is excited to present a concert inspired by the themes of Virgil’s Aeneid, viewed through the lens of Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas. The first half introduces the characters of Dido, Aeneas, and the mischievous gods through song, music, and visual projections. The second half features a full performance of Purcell’s opera Dido and Aeneas, re-imagined with traditional harpsichord and continuo alongside jazz-infused interpretations, while a lively folk troupe brings the sailors’ song to life. Far more than a school concert, this is an evening for anyone who loves quality live music and fresh, modern interpretations of timeless repertoire – a joyful musical production where young performers bring classic texts to life with creativity and energy.
