#40Yearsin40Weeks: The 1989-90 academic saw the opening of the Mackay Theatre. The first production was ‘Oliver!’. It was also the final BGS production led by David Trott, who retired after more than 30 years at the school. https://t.co/VmscQmde8h
The Sixth Form years at BGS are an exciting time, when the decisions you take begin to shape your future. You’ll gain more independence and also be expected to take more responsibility for your own learning.
There are around 300 students in the Sixth Form at BGS and our size is one of our great strengths. Academically, it means BGS can offer you the choice of around 30 A level courses, as well as the International Baccalaureate (IB).
Some students will benefit from the focus of A level and Pre-U courses, while others will flourish by continuing the wider range of subjects offered by the IB Diploma. Both the IB and A level / Pre-U Courses strive to develop advanced learning skills and styles, independence and engagement with the wider community. Which ever route you choose, you'll be fully prepared for life after BGS, be that higher education, an apprenticeship or the world of work.
You'll also be part of the energetic and supportive place that is BGS Sixth Form. Study and socialising go hand in hand to create an atmosphere of friendship and a strong sense of community as you move into the final stage of your school career. Small class sizes, specialist teachers and up-to-date equipment and facilities will provide you with all you need to achieve the excellent results for which BGS students are known.
Every year we welcome a large number of new students into our Sixth Form, and you'll quickly feel part of the BGS family.
At BGS, ensuring you are happy and enjoying school life is at the heart of all we do.
Our Sixth Form is an opportunity for you to develop the responsibility, self-discipline and independence that you'll need in adult life.
