Parent Communications

To keep parents up-to-date with what's going on at BGS and to help you feel informed about your child's school days, we have a dedicated web-based portal to share information with our parent community.

My School Portal

Through this secure, web-based communications portal, parents and guardians have 24/7 access to personalised data about your child(ren) via one username and password. From one intuitive and simple-to-use dashboard, you can access emails, reports, attendance records, timetables, and sports fixtures from your desktop, tablet, or smartphone.

You will also receive email and text communications from the school via this system. The Senior School and Sixth Form weekly newsletter is sent via email every Wednesday in term time. It contains school news and notices, including details of upcoming events, trips and meetings. Additionally there is a half-termly round-up of news and achievements, accompanied by a message from the Head. This 'Half term Highlights' email is sent at the end of each half term.

As well as being delivered to your email inbox or phone, email and text messages sent via My School Portal are also stored within the portal itself, allowing you to easily find communications received from BGS.

BGS Infants and Juniors have a separate email newsletter. This is sent by Nicola Prince, the Infant and Junior School secretary, every Thursday in term time. Please contact nprince@bgs.bristol.sch.uk in the Junior School office if you have any queries. You will also receive a weekly email from your child’s Form Tutor. This provides an insight into what your child’s class has been doing in School and gives useful reminders such as what kit is needed in School and when.

On arrival to the School all parents are signed up to receive the weekly email, as well as other email communication. If you would prefer not to receive these emails please contact bgshelpdesk@bgs.bristol.sch.uk with your child’s name and form as well as your own name requesting to opt out. Please note that by making this choice you will be opting out of all email communication from the School.

Families joining the School will be sent an email enabling them to access My School Portal ahead of their child joining BGS. This will also include a link to a simple user guide, to answer any questions you might have about where to find information on the portal and how to use it.

SOCS co-curricular

The SOCS co-curricular system is used to manage clubs and music lessons at School. Your child has an account to select their activities, and anything they sign up to through SOCS will show in their Daily Planner in My School Portal, but parents and guardians can also access the SOCS system to see what clubs are on offer and when. Access to SOCS is available from the My School Portal homepage.
