The power of personal choice

At BGS Sixth Form there is no subject blocking system, which means that each timetable is individually crafted to enable your unique Sixth Form experience. Your choices curate a bespoke Sixth Form journey that is completely tailored to you, putting you in control of your academic learning, enrichment, and personal development.

The A level programme is delivered by our passionate teaching staff. With 297 learning hours across the A level programme and small class sizes, you’ll benefit from the wealth of experience of our dedicated teaching staff, with teaching practices designed to enhance your knowledge and skills, and evoke a life-long love of learning.

You will choose three core A level subjects, and at least one subsidiary ‘elective’ course. In each of your subjects, you will have eleven periods of contact time per fortnight with your subject teacher. In addition to your A level studies, students select at least one elective. Electives provide a choice of enrichment and balance to your main subjects.

The Games and Activities programme runs twice a week and involves a wide range of physical activity, from team sports to recreational aerobic and physical conditioning in our Sports Hall Fitness Suite. Activities are designed to develop self-confidence, commitment, empathy and social awareness through responsibility, leadership and teamwork. Students can build their passions through a variety of subject societies, Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award and the Ten Tors Challenge.

Talk to us about your own aspirations and we can help you navigate your decision making.
