Beyond BGS

Careers Guidance is a crucial element to Sixth Form life. At BGS we aim to provide our students with as much information as possible about the options that are open to them once they leave school.

During the two years at Sixth Form our students will attend: a UCAS exhibition, a Gap Fair for information about Gap Year possibilities, an Oxbridge Conference for those looking to study at Oxford or Cambridge and we host our own Higher Education Conference with our OB (Old Bristolian) community who provide invaluable advice and support for our students. We are very lucky to have such a diverse and sociable OB network who are always happy to come back to the school.

Sixth-formers are also offered the opportunity to attend a mock interview evening, where they can experience real life interviews and gain valuable feedback from parents and OBs who represent a wide variety of industries. Students will also be provided with in-depth information relating to apprenticeships and college courses in their Wellbeing sessions. Every aspect of the next step is supported by the Careers team with help and advice on applications, student finance, gap years and entry to overseas universities. There is also support for parents during this important phase of your child's life, with information evenings offered to provide answers to any questions and queries you may have.
