Art and Russian workshop

The Art and Russian Departments were this week delighted to welcome into school Oksana Sekatcheva who led an all day workshop event for Year 7 looking at traditional Russian toys. Our pupils enjoyed a talk where they learned about the history of different traditional Russian toys and then each had a one-hour workshop where they were able to shape one of the toys using clay before painting the figure of a bird which was on a wooden template. It was fantastic to see how engaged and enthusiastic Year 7 were and the impressive toys and colourful birds they produced!
