Year 2 learn about Chinese Festivals

This term Year 2 are learning all about China as their Topic and today (Friday 17 January) one of our Year 2 parents, Mr Hu, treated them to a wonderful lesson about Chinese festivals.

He taught them all about the Spring Festival, Lantern Festival, Tomb Sweeping Day, Dragon Boat Festival and Double Nine Festival. The children learned to say the names of all the festivals in Chinese and the different traditions that go with each one. Yuanxiao dumplings are eaten at the Lantern festival; if you'd like to try making your own, click here for a recipe you can make at home.

Mr Hu very kindly gave each child an amazing large red zipped folder in the style of the red envelope given during the Spring Festival, packed full of things to do! The folders were donated by the China National Tourist Office London. Thank you to them for their generosity, and to Mr Hu for such an interesting and informative talk.
