A new interactive World Map of Climate Change Teachers launches today, highlighting the location of all the schools with a qualified Climate Change Teacher on their staff.
We are delighted and proud that BGS is among the first UK schools to feature on the map – and currently the only school in Bristol – thanks to Geography teacher Mrs Atkins’s successful completion of the One United Nations Climate Change Learning Partnership (UN CC:Learn) accredited course.
The course is designed to enable teachers to encourage and generate social innovation, and prepare today’s youth to protect the planet. At BGS, our pupils are very aware of the challenges posed by Climate Change and committed to playing their part in protecting the planet, for all of our futures. We are delighted to have a member of staff who has undertaken this innovative and important training programme to enable us to help our pupils do just that. Climate change learning is being integrated within the School’s Wellbeing programme next year and BGS also has its own Environmental Society which will also be able to benefit from this excellent initiative.
