Banned Books Week

BGS Library are marking Banned Books Week, 23–29 September 2018, a celebration of our freedom to read.

A large number of books have been banned, censored or burned in the past and challenges to books still happen regularly in some parts of the world. From claims of witchcraft to objections about obscenity - the reasons for these restrictions are as diverse as the books themselves. As part of Banned Books Week we are giving staff and students the chance to have a mugshot taken with their favourite ‘banned’ book in the Library. Also read ‘A Tale of Two Banned Books’ on the Library blog to find out why To Kill a Mockingbird and The Hate U Give were among the top 10 most complained about books in the USA in 2017.
