Tamed with Alice Roberts

On Sunday 29 October Professor Alice Roberts asked the pivotal question 'How do you tame wildness?' as part of a lecture she presented at 1532 Performing Arts Centre.

Her presentation took the general conceit that, for hundreds of thousands of years, our ancestors depended on wild plants and animals to survive until a significant evolutionary shift occurred - namely we began to domesticate wild species which became fundamental to our existence and survival.

To a sold out auditorium, the Bristol-born professor plunged into history, genetics and archaeology to uncover the enthralling tales of species - cattle, dogs, horses, potatoes, wheat - that became our allies, and how this process has irrevocably left its mark on all concerned.
