Battle of the Bands

Fourteen bands took to the stage of the Theatre on Tuesday, all vying to be crowned the winners of this year’s Battle of the Bands. Pupils from Year 8 to the Upper Sixth were represented and, as always, there was a very high standard overall.

The judges tasked with the tricky decision of picking the winners were Mr Jakobek, who summed up with his typically dry sense of humour at the end, and guest judge Matt Glasbey, a professional producer who is currently working with Ed Sheeran. Matt was also involved in judging the Producer’s Showcase (a competition for students who produce electronic music) and a workshop for A level Music Tech students earlier in the day.

Sales of ticket and refreshments were all in aid of Education for All Morocco and helped add another £300 to this term’s charity total. Thank you to the many parents, students and staff who came along to support, and of course congratulations to our winners:

The Midnight Dreamers (Junior winners)
Now There Are Three (Senior winners).
Tash (Best Vocal Performance)
Emily (Best Bass Performance)
Jenny (Multi Instrumentalist Award)
Will (Best Keyboard Performance)
Ore (Best Drum Performance)
