On Monday 2 July the students of Bristol Grammar School's newly-formed Natural History Club visited Bristol Museum & Art Gallery for a private tour of the museum’s collection of fossils and rocks not usually on display to the public (a follow-up to their fossil hunting trip to Aust Cliff the week prior).
The students were shown examples of fossils found around Bristol and the south west, including the famous “Doris” – a giant Pliosaurus marine reptile, 150 million years old, found in Wiltshire. Everyone had a great time; the students had plenty of questions to ask and the museum staff were happy to answer them, saying afterwards that they had a lovely afternoon hosting us. Thank you from everyone who went to the museum staff for such an enjoyable and informative afternoon.
