Senior School sporting round up

Autumn term sport is well underway, with a busy weekend of rugby and girls’ hockey last weekend.

In rugby, the boys played Crypt Grammar School. There were wins for the U14A, U13A and U13B teams but unfortunately defeats for the First and Second XVs and the U15s. Max and Harrison played well for the U13s; Leo for the U14s; and in the U15s Kaelan performed well. The U12 teams played some internal games against each other and are making excellent progress in developing their rugby skills.

In hockey, after last weekends' stalemate with the M5, our girls' U15A and B sides played triangular matches against Blundell’s and Queen’s Taunton. The 15Bs tripled last year’s goal tally in one afternoon winning 2-0 and 4-0; Elise and Anna shone throughout. Our 15As won 1-0 v Queen’s and drew 2-2 with Blundell’s; Clodagh, Suki and Khandi were the players of the day. Our Second XI beat Blundell’s 3-0; Laura was the standout player in the game, with goals for Sophie, Liv and Keira.

All other teams had their Captains' Challenge weekend, an in-house event; notable highs include a huge 80% of our Year 7 girls out playing, and 78% of our Year 8 girls. A fun morning of hockey participation with goals and fancy-dress a-plenty!

Next Saturday, the girls face Dean Close but before then, on Thursday (29 September), the First XI play KES Bath in the second round of the National cup at home. We wish them the best of luck.
