On Saturday 5 May, BGS hosted our second Bristol Megafinal in the UK Chess Challenge. This involved over 150 children from Bristol and the surrounding area.
There was a good BGS contingent of around 20 children, who were very successful. Seven children from the Junior School – Ben, Ishaan, Josh M, Anvith, Vishal, Orin and Hana all qualified for the next round of this national competition, the Southern Gigafinal. Four students from the Senior School did likewise: Sashank, Alex, Josh R and Chirag.
Three BGS students did especially well: Josh R, Hana and Chirag won trophies for coming top in their age-group sections.
This Saturday, we look forward to hosting the national semi-finals of the English Primary Schools’ Chess Championships in the Great Hall, involving over 450 children. Best of luck to all the competitors.
