UK Senior Mathematical Challenge success

In early November, almost 180 BGS pupils took part in the UK Senior Mathematical Challenge.  Nationally the top 60% of scorers receive certificates and this year we again achieved an outstanding set of results: 14 Gold, 33 Silver and 70 Bronze certificates.

Special congratulations are due to the fourteen pupils whose exceptional results were such that they were invited to participate in the follow-up rounds: Ollie (who also won the 'Best in School' award), Max, Tom, Louis, Anton, Kyle, Sam, Finlay, Will, Saty, Eddie, Charlotte, Ted and Elliot.

In the follow-up competition, we were delighted that Ollie (U6) and Tom (L6) gained a Distinction in the Olympiad paper and Eddie (U6) gained a Merit in the Kangaroo competition.

Four BGS pupils – Eddie, Ollie, Max and Tom – deserve particular mention as they also achieved significant success in the regional heat of the Senior Team Maths challenge last term, coming an extremely close second and narrowly missing out on being invited to the national team final in London.
