Junior Team Chess Challenge

On Monday 13 March, BGS was pleased to host a large inter-school tournament in the Great Hall, involving over 160 pupils from 18 schools across the region. This is the largest regional event in the Junior Team Chess Challenge competition for KS3 pupils, organised jointly by BGS and the Bristol Chess League through the English Chess Federation. The three BGS teams all did very well and particular congratulations are due to our first team who finished as comfortable winners of the top section of the tournament.

Our first team consisted of Tom (Y9), Advay (Y8), Jonah (Y7) and Sam (Y7). Rayyan (Y7) also won all four of his games. This follows on from the success of our first team in the senior version of this competition back in January. It is an outstanding achievement for our players to become regional champions at both junior and senior levels this year.
