On Friday 8 June BGS Juniors spent the day at Failand for their annual Sports Day. The day saw lots of fantastic performances from Year 3 all the way up to Year 6, and no fewer than six records falling – three in the field events and three on the track.
Well done to all the new record holders:
William (Pitt’s House) – Y3 Boys’ Long Jump 3.40m
Prarthana (Pitt’s) – Y5 Girls’ Rounders’ Ball Throw 35.12m (breaking a record set in 1998)
Helenka (Boulton’s) – Y6 Girls’ Shot Put 7.15m
This record was broken three times on sports day, first by Helenka, than Ellie (Gough’s), then Helenka again!
Florentia (Pitt’s) – Y3 50m Sprint 8.87 seconds
Oscar (Pitt’s) –Y3 50m Sprint 8.37 seconds
William (Pitt’s) – Y3 75m 11.34 seconds
Meanwhile, Year 5’s Reuben (McGregor’s) was just 12 hundredths of a second away from breaking the 100m record which has stood since 2000!
The overall winners were McGregor’s House (for the third year in a row!), with just three points separating second and third. Congratulations to Henry and Zach, jointly awarded the Victor Ludorum, and runner-up Rahul. Uniquely there were four winners of the Victrix Ludorum – Helenka, Eleanor, Ellie, and Isabelle – well done to them all, and runner-up Gracie.
Thank you to all the family and friends who came along to support, and to all the children who competed with such great energy and team-spirit.
