A huge congratulations to Daisy (Y11), winner of the Women's History Network Poster Competition (Senior Category). Daisy won £250 for the School with her poster featuring Maya Angelou, she explains:
"This poster is a collage of photos with Maya Angelou in the centre. The background is a sky created out of images which I felt represented the new coming position on women in the mid-late 1900s. The pictures show the empowerment of women, rise of feminism and the explosion of new fashion and culture, all of which transcended the previous outlook on women. In one of Angelou’s hands is the earth and in the other are balloons and this shows her escalating through this new environment of what it meant to be a women, taking the world with her. I felt that this aligned with her famous quote: ‘you have two hands, one for helping yourself and one for helping others'."
