On Tuesday 28 January our Philosothon Team competed, once again at King’s College Taunton, against eight schools from across the South West. Teams are judged on how well they collaborate with other schools in discussing four set philosophical topics. This year the texts were somewhat familiar to our philosophers, covering Sartre on Moral Luck, Chalmers on the Extended Mind, Putnam on Representation and a final exploration of tensions between rationality and democracy.
Year 9 pupil Adiyat's contributions earned him the Junior Philosopher of the evening title and Sixth-former Katie was awarded the Senior Philosopher of the evening. With both of these titles announced it was not surprising that first place was awarded to BGS and so The Thinker trophy once again is sat at the centre of the Harkness Table in Martin’s.
