Last weekend, the BGS Greenpower cars took part in the international final at Goodwood. Racing was tough with 81 other teams competing and made trickier by both Terazord and Redshift suffering mechanical issues in the practice session which meant they joined the line-up towards the back of the field.
With their mechanical issues resolved, brave driving from our most experienced drivers saw the cars navigate through the field but they had to do so carefully over the first two laps; once clear of the mid field and back markers, the cars settled into consistent driving and lap times. The fresh driver changes were smooth with little time lost, but we were unable to close on the leading group and finished the first race in tenth (Redshift) and eleventh (Terazord).
In race two we managed to get closer to halfway through the field to start the race but faced similar challenges of making our way through a packed track. Slick changeovers and carefully selecting pit times kept us in the top twenty. An unfortunate ‘temporary’ exit from the track saw Terazord penalised with a 3-minute penalty which hampered our progress but with reliability and great pit crew work, the cars again finished in tenth and eleventh.
