BGS win Bristol Schools' Rugby Sevens cup

During half term, BGS’s Failand sports ground hosted the Bristol Schools’ Rugby Sevens Cup. Twelve Year 7 boys represented BGS, playing matches against five other local schools in the tournament.

The BGS team came up against some strong opposition, but worked hard and produced some excellent Sevens play. A string of victories saw them defeat Clevedon School 6–0, QEH 5–0, Sidcot 6–0 and Clifton High 4–0 to reach a final match against the also unbeaten St Bede’s which would decide the competition.

Using everything they’d learnt about Sevens, the BGS team created space for themselves, eventually passing the ball out wide for an easy run to the try line. Another two tries followed, with the game ending 3–0 and BGS winning the Bristol Schools’ Rugby Sevens Cup without conceding a try. Well done boys.
