Life after BGS for our Sixth Form

At this time of year, our Upper Sixth students continue to take steps towards life after BGS as they receive university offers and firm up apprenticeship opportunities.

We’re delighted to share that nine BGS students (seven pictured below) have received offers from Oxford and Cambridge covering a range of subjects. Cambridge offers have included Architecture, English (three offers), Law, and Human, Social and Political Science, whilst Oxford offers include Biomedical Sciences, English Language and Literature, and History and Economics.

At BGS, there is always such a range of plans our students have for their future. The variety of courses chosen by students this year is vast, from robotics, history and fashion marketing to engineering, screenwriting, sustainability, and economics, to name but a few. This year, we have 20 applicants to medicine, veterinary science and dentistry who have already received lots of interview invitations and a couple of offers, although it is still early in the process for them.

This year, our Future Pathways team has supported students in making 175 applications to 80 different universities, totalling nearly 850 individual courses. Offers are rolling in from many different institutions, including Durham, King's, Newcastle, Edinburgh, UCL, Bath, and more.

Beyond the UK, students are applying to universities in the USA, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain. Several students are continuing to explore and apply for degree apprenticeship opportunities as they arise. One student is working through the prestigious Dyson degree apprenticeship process, with others considering opportunities in management and finance, all supported by our Future Pathways team with CV guidance, cover letters, and interview preparation.

No matter the path they choose, BGS is committed to helping each student find the right destination for them. We can’t wait to see where their journeys take them next!
