On Monday 30 January, BGS hosted a large inter-school tournament in the Great Hall, involving around 170 pupils from 17 schools across the region. This is the largest regional event in the 'Team Chess Challenge' competition, which is organised jointly by BGS and the Bristol Chess League under the auspices the English Chess Federation.
The three BGS teams all did very well and particular congratulations are due to our first team who finished as comfortable winners of the top section of the tournament. This is the second consecutive year in which our team, consisting of Chirag (U6), Kandara (Y10), Jay (U6) and Jonathan (Y10) have secured qualification for the national finals as regional champions. We wish them every success for this event which takes place in April.
