We are delighted with the success of Bristol Megafinal of the UK Chess Challenge which we hosted in the Great Hall on Saturday 8 June.
This involved around 180 pupils from over 40 schools, including a BGS contingent of around 45 pupils from both Senior and Junior Schools.
For several players, this was their first chess tournament and 16 BGS players, ranging from Year 2 up to Year 10, qualified for the next round of this national competition, the Southern Giga-Final.
Congratulations to all of them on this achievement, particularly Nathaniel in Year 10 who was also overall runner-up in the top section with 5 wins out 6.
