BGS team reach national final of Digital Creators' Challenge

A team of four Year 8 pupils from Bristol Grammar School has beaten over 50 entries to represent the South West in the national grand final of the Digital Creators’ Challenge.

The competition, supported by Vodafone, challenged teams of pupils aged 11–14 to create and design an app to improve lives in their community.

The Hype Band team from BGS – Seth, Lily, Adi and Iris – came up with the idea for an app to help diabetics monitor their sugar levels, using a customisable band around their wrist, connected via Bluetooth to their phone. Watch their video pitch to find out more about their proposal.

As a regional finalist Hype Band will attend the Digital Creators’ Challenge Grand Final on Friday 27 March hosted at Vodafone HQ Newbury. As well as an exclusive behind-the-scenes glimpse of life at Vodafone, the pupils will also present their exciting app idea to a panel of judges, with a chance to win one of two prizes of £2,000 for the two Category Winners (best technical app; best social impact) or the overall prize of £6,000!

We congratulate Adi, Lily, Iris and Seth on reaching the national final and wish them the best of luck for the 27 March.
