BGS delegates participated in their seventh annual MUN Cheadle Hulme event earlier this month. Pupils represented Poland and Saudi Arabia, discussing a range of global issues from cybersecurity to the right to adequate childbirth provision.
Two days of intensive lobbying, resolution-writing and debating ended in team success for our Poland delegation, given a Highly Commended award for their collective endeavour. Individual successes were enjoyed by Lower-sixth student Katie, chosen as the Outstanding Delegate on the Political Committee in her first residential conference, and Kyle (Year 11), Outstanding on the Economic and Financial Committee.
Debutant Will (Lower Sixth) was Highly Commended on the Economic and Financial Committee for Saudi Arabia.
Commented Dr Massey: ‘MUNCH offers a chance for high-level debating alongside schools such as Manchester Grammar School, Withington Girls School and KES, Bath. To be chosen by fellow-students for so many awards speaks volumes for the skill and dedication of our two delegations. I salute all thirteen students who gave up their weekend to represent BGS so effectively.’
