Sport galore

The restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic mean we have had to rethink our sporting schedule this term, but they definitely haven’t stopped the on-field action at Failand.

So far this term the boys have been training and playing cricket in their year-group bubbles. On Saturday 12 September they played in a House cricket tournament; it was great to see lots of boys involved representing their Houses. Glory was shared across the age-ranges with four different Houses victorious: the U15 competition was won by Short’s; the U14s by Scott’s; the U13s by Glenn’s; and the U12s by Hilliard’s.

On Saturday 19 September the teams were mixed up a little more – still in their year-group bubbles – and we saw lots of competitive cricket played. This week (26 September) sees the last Saturday of cricket; the boys will move onto football and touch rugby in the coming weeks as the weather becomes more autumnal.

The girls have been training and playing hockey each Saturday with numerous different games and activities within their year-group bubbles. On Saturday 19 September – our first Captains’ Challenge week – an amazing 171 girls participated throughout the day. This weekend sees Round 2 of the Captains’ Challenge, as we build up towards House Hockey tournaments on Saturday 3 and 10 October. Well done to all involved –it’s been wonderful to see the pitches of Failand filled with players once again.
